Financial Data Analyst – Chicago, IL

Our client company, a leader in software products that provide financial analytics to hospitals and healthcare systems is seeking a talented Financial Data Analyst.  In this role you will become an expert in our client’s financial planning solution and acquire a deep understanding of the financial models, reports and other functionality utilized by clients to drive their financial planning processes.   In addition, you will collaborate with consulting and development teams to ensure that the final client deliverable is aligned with the client requirements and meets their high quality of standards.

Responsibilities, not limited to:

  • Collecting and refining client use cases and testing requirements for individual client projects
  • Designing and executing test plans to validate client implementation and optimization projects prior to go live
  • Leading quality reviews of key areas of the system, specifically financial models and reports to ensure they meet our standards as well as Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Creating defect reports / feature enhancement requests, and tracking issues to resolution
  • Analyzing quality review processes to identify potential optimizations
  • Working with cross-functional, distributed teams
  • Understanding of a  project life cycle from the requirements gathering to delivery

Education and Experience:

  • B.S. degree or foreign academic equivalent in Finance, Business, Accounting or a related financial or business field
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Professional and/or academic background in Excel and Financial Modeling
  • Deep understanding of financial concepts and their relation to business functions
  • An interest in business domain and key business drivers influencing the quality of software applications
  • A drive to learn quickly and constantly adapt to new challenges
  • Must be very detail-oriented
  • Able to think creatively about global solutions to testing challenges
  • Strong self-motivation, and the ability to work effectively with limited guidance when necessary
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Professional and/or academic background in SQL and relational database concepts (preferred)
