Systems Engineer PACS Admin – North Carolina

Join a hospital in Western North Carolina located in a medium sized city that has the charm and friendliness of a smaller city with the amenities of a cosmopolitan city.  You can enjoy theater, music, festivals, excellent restaurants, art galleries and museums.  In addition, it is a top outdoor recreation destination surrounded by the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.  In this role you will provide technical support of PACS Enterprise system and will be the primary liason between the PACS vendor and the organization.

Job Summary:

  • Ensure the technical infrastructure of the PACS Enterprise system is operating efficiently and as required by the application vendor.
  • Close integration with other CS resources such as the Network Administrators, Storage Administrators, Database Administrators and other technical Architects to ensure compliant processing of the PACS system.
  • Provide close support to the clinical areas such as the Radiology Department, Cardiology Department and Physician community to resolve all technical issues related to the smooth operation and use of the PACS system.
  • Serves as a backup and support role for the IT Storage Administrator.
  • Provide all coordination for enterprise PACS archiving projects for IT.
  • Strategically and actively participate in Disaster Recovery (DR) efforts. Design and work with PACS archival/backup strategies.
  • Assist with other departmental areas as appropriate and assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

  • B.S. in Computer Science or related field and minimum five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and seasoned experience.
  • Experience with PACS systems, storage Networks, and open systems administration (Solaris, Unix, AIX) is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of integrated systems architecture design techniques, theories, principles, and practices. Must have keen attention to detail. And proven analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Full understanding and concepts with file systems, data archiving, network protocols and Interface constructs; Knowledge of system management tools preferred.
