There may be less hiring activity depending on the field that you are in,  however there may be less competition for jobs and more opportunities for networking.  Job seekers should be aware of both the advantages and disadvantages, take a look at these tips to help you successfully navigate the job market over the next few months.

  • Ramp up your job search now – get ahead of the curve before Thanksgiving when many hiring managers may put a hold on hiring as they use their vacation time during the holiday.
  • There is a common notion that companies don’t hire during the holidays and many job seekers wind down their activities and decide to restart their search in the new year. There are fewer active job seekers which means less competition for jobs.
  • The end of the year may include hiring freezes by some companies until they can see how the last quarter of the year unfolds.
